چکیده

This study investigates the clinical and radiological results of a tapered femoral stem (Corail®) uncemented threaded acetabular cups (Tropic®) in addition an analysis complications retrieved implants was conducted. Between January 1990 September 1998, 301 total hips arthroplasties 268 patients were implanted. 78 (87 hips) had died 9 (12 been lost to follow-up, leaving at time latest follow-up 180 (202 hips). The mean age surgery 56,1 (27-75) years. Of 154 unrevised hips, median Harris Merle d´Aubigne Postel hip scores 83,3 points 15,3 respectively follow-up. 16.9 years (10,4-25). No component revised for aseptic loosening ; osteolysis observed 9,5% (13 stems). 48 (23%) 27 (56,2%) needed revision because massive polyethylene wear. Pelvic found out 80 (58,8%). 87 (63,9%) showed signs progressive wear liner, more than 2mm hips. Kaplan-Meier survivorship 15 81.2% with any reason (85.8% mechanical or radiographic loosening). High rates high prevalence pelvic are serious matters these types so we decided abandon concept cup design favor press-fit cup.

Cementless femoral fixation in total hip arthroplasty.

Cementless femoral fixation by means of bone ingrowth has been successful in total hip arthroplasty in patients with sufficient bone quality. Consistent bone ingrowth and resultant long-term success involve many factors, including surgical technique, initial mechanical stability achieved at time of implantation, stem design and material, and implant surface. One potential method for achieving f...

Cementless Femoral Fixation in Total Hip Arthroplasty

In 1995, the NIH (National Institutes of Health) Consensus Development Panel on Total Hip Replacement supported the use of hybrid fixation with a cemented stem and a noncemented cup because of excellent long-term results. However, today, 60% to 90% of the approximately 200,000 total hip arthroplasties performed yearly in the United States involve both a cementless cup and a cementless stem. The...

Cementless total hip arthroplasty using a threaded cup and a rectangular tapered stem. Follow-up for ten to 17 years.

We carried out a clinical and radiological review of 103 cementless primary hip arthroplasties with a tapered rectangular grit-blasted titanium press-fit femoral component and a threaded conical titanium acetabular component at a mean follow-up of 14.4 years (10.2 to 17.1). The mean Harris hip score at the last follow-up was 89.2 (32 to 100). No early loosening and no fracture of the implant we...

Long-Term Results of Cementless Total Hip Arthroplasty Using a Modular Stem in Patients with Femoral Head Osteonecrosis

Cementless modular stemwas designed to allow the surgeon to independently match the anatomy of the metaphyseal and diaphyseal regions of the femoral canal of an individual patient.1 S-ROM stem (DePuy/Johnson & Johnson), which has a hollow proximal sleeve and separate cylindrical core, was introduced in 1984. So far, long-term results of this prosthesis have been excellent in osteoarthritis, dev...

Clinical and radiological outcome following total hip arthroplasty with an uncemented trabecular metal monoblock acetabular cup.

Uncemented acetabular components are associated with a significant incidence of polyethylene wear and secondary osteolysis. The new tantalum/polyethylene composite (Hedrocel) acetabular component is designed to reduce the polyethylene wear and to increase the longevity of the acetabular cups. We report our short- term clinical outcome and patient satisfaction following use of an uncemented tant...
